Why are the works being carried out?

Junction 8 is situated where the A1139 Frank Perkins Parkway / A15 Paston Parkway / A1139 Eye Road and Parnwell Way meet. This key junction improvement will help reduce congestion and provide additional housing and employment in the city.

The scheme includes:

  • Full signalisation of the roundabout
  • Signalised pedestrian crossing facilities
  • Widening of the junction approaches and circulatory carriageway
  • New road lighting

Works commenced on the 19 April 2010 and are expected to take approximately 40 weeks to complete.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Traffic management including a reduced number of lanes, temporary traffic signals and occasional weekend and night time road closures are planned to allow this work to be undertaken. Prior notification will be given of all road closures. During peak periods, two lanes will be kept open on the Parkways and through the junction to minimise commuter disruption.
